Old Town & Underground Ghost TourSpooky, light hearted, family friendly fun…

About this tour

The Early Afternoon Ghost Tours are walking tours led by a professional local guide in full period costume. You will walk around some of Edinburgh’s most historically fascinating Old Town Closes, where guides will overdose you with historical facts and stories of Edinburgh’s dark past, with the odd bad joke thrown in from time to time.

The tour will then take you into Edinburgh’s underground vaults, located underneath the historic South Bridge, just off Edinburgh’s famous Royal Mile.

These vaults are known to be some of the most haunted in the world and many a ghost has been spotted lurking around both by visitors and guides alike.

Ghosts, torture, death and horror … Is there any better way to start your evening?

A Most Insightful and Scary Tour Mary Paterson, Jill if you disliked the tour, was certainly the highlight of the tour, she was very insightful and very easy to talk too, she told stories that you would never have belived to be true, yet they are! No spoilers, the vaults are drastically eerie and really makes the hairs stand on the back of your neck, it is one of those scenarios that you don't want to be in for as long as you need too, although I believe the ghosts to be of a kind nature. It is very impressive to see untouched 1700-1800 architecture and the conditions people lived in back when human life was expendable. Very well done!

Best Ghost Tour. Just finished the tour with Major Weir (aka john) with two of my friends. Although there was only three of us I think that made it so much better as it was more like a personal tour! The guide knew his stuff and how to tell a good tale. Took us round the old town and down to the underground vaults. I was pleasantly spooked. Only down side was not getting a selfie with Major Weir in the vaults!! Would definitely recommend.
